Most actors will only be called for 2 rehearsals a week until the final few weeks, when actors should be prepared to rehearse on up to 4 days a week.

Notes

We are committed to improving diversity in our casting and, unless stated for artistic reasons, we aim to actively adopt an inclusive casting policy.

This is an amateur production. You do not need to be a member of PTC to audition, but actors and crew will need to become members for £25 a year by direct debit, or £30 otherwise. A £25 show fee will also need to be paid by all actors in the production. We encourage you to become a member of PTC anyway, even if not cast.

Our company is run by volunteers and we expect all actors cast in a play to volunteer for Front of House duties at least once a year. Our shows could not go up without our Front of House volunteers.

Synopsis

Alice is an imaginative girl who is sitting in the park one day with her social media-obsessed older sister when a mysterious White Rabbit leads her on an adventure into a world beyond reality, where little makes sense and all the inhabitants seem quite mad! As if meeting a talking Caterpillar, the Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter isn’t enough, Alice’s journey brings her into conflict with the maniacal Queen of Hearts, whose penchant for decapitation has the entire population of Wonderland living in fear!

This modern, PTC-written retelling of the beloved children’s classic will feature bizarre characters both classic and new in a vibrant theatrical experience to delight whole families. Our production will feature musical numbers and a variety of theatrical tricks, so we are looking for performers who can bring their stage skills to the mix.

Audition preparation

Please read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass before your audition. While this production is not a straight adaptation, being familiar with the original stories should help you grasp the key characteristics of each character.

If you would like to audition, please email PTCWonderland@gmail.com with your preferred audition date, the characters you would like to audition for and any other theatrical skills you have. This can include singing, dancing, musical instruments, juggling, mime, magic, puppetry, kabuki or anything else!

The audition process will include some group activities and improvisation. We are not looking for theatre-sports experts but it is important that we find a group of versatile performers who can work together as an ensemble.

Characters

The below list represents key characters from the show but there will be other smaller and ensemble characters in addition to those listed.
