Why then methinks 'tis time to smile again

Putney Theatre Company presents Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare.

Performance dates: SATURDAY 12TH & SUNDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2020, 3.00pm

Venue: Putney Old Burial Ground

You are warmly invited to join us for PTCs first in-person production since lockdown!

The safety and health of our audience, cast & crew are of paramount importance to us.

Weather permitting & in the absence of other unforeseen events, the production will take place at Putney Old Burial Ground, in a socially distanced performance.

We ask all audience members to please bring masks with them.  Audience will be asked to wear these in the event that the performance need to move inside to the Putney Arts Theatre space, which will have been prepared for this eventuality with all possible precautions taken.

Twins Viola and Sebastian are parted in a shipwreck, but tragedy quickly turns to comedy when they wash up in socially-distanced Illyria, a land where passions run high, but lovers seem strangely reluctant to touch. Disguising herself as a boy, Viola finds herself in the middle of a triangle of unrequited love as handsome Duke Orsino woos haughty Countess Olivia. Meanwhile an alliance of hangers-on plot against Olivia’s overbearing and puritanical steward, Malvolio – all while attempting to remain at least one metre apart.

Putney Theatre Company present an abbreviated, Covid-secure version of Shakespeare’s captivating and rambunctious comedy in the open air.

Due to COVID guidelines we are not able to have more than 50 attendees for each performance, so tickets are therefore very limited. We have prioritised tickets for family & friends of cast & crew, and then membership, but apologise if you have been unable to purchase tickets this time. We hope to schedule further performances in the future.
